It allows park management to control the gates that regulate the flow to Falls Creek from the shore, so they don’t have to use a boat to manually position them. The automation systems use an Allen Bradley PLC, in conjunction with an HMI and spread spectrum radio.
Flow rate adjustments are based on seasonal needs and weather conditions to ensure park visitors can enjoy the beauty of the falls in almost all weather conditions.
The Platform Site is a self-contained control panel that includes all the platform’s electrical needs. It communicates pond level, gate position and alarms to the Shore Site via 900 MHz spread spectrum radios.
